Betway teams up West Ham & NiP stars for first ‘Esports Challenge’

For its latest social media campaign, online bookmaker Betway has teamed up its two biggest sports partnership; Premier League football club West Ham United and leading esports team Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP).

Launching its latest ‘Betway Esports Challenge’, West Ham United players Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez and Michail Antonio ‘swap pitches for PCs’ battling head-to-head in a game of CS:GO, a competitive first-person shooter that is similar to Call of Duty.

West Ham’s Hernandez and Antonio, are coached by NiP star players’ GeT RiGhT and f0rest, with the Esports Challenge hosted by BBC presenter OJ Borg.

Following their first ever esports experience, Hernandez and Antonio will turn the tables on NiP’s GeT_RiGhT and f0rest by making them battle each other in a football challenge, which will be available to watch on Betway’s YouTube channel on February 26.

Since 2015, Betway has been the shirt sponsor of West Ham United. Following the success of the football partnership, Betway marketing renewed its lead sponsorship of the East London football club, through to season 2019/20.

Seeking to bolster its presence within the burgeoning global esports market, Betway announced that it had secured a ‘high ssix-figure deal with Ninjas in Pyjamas in 2016, a leading team in Counter-Strike gaming formats.
