Vamos… Sportium makes its Colombian play

Grupo Cirsa and Ladbrokes Coral joint venture Sportium (Sportium.es), has secured Colombia Colijuegos’ ninth online gambling license.

The Spanish online betting brand will move to launch Colombian property Sportium.com.co, aiming to become a major player in the newly regulated South American jurisdiction.

Colombian news sources report that Cirsa governance has secured a 5-year Colijuegos license valued at approximately $7 million.

Last August, Cirsa governance stated its full commitment to entering the Colombian betting market through its Sportium online gambling brand, detailing that it was preparing full-scale marketing campaigns for its market entry.

Supporting its new market venture, Cirsa has further announced that it will seek to launch 100 Sportium betting points supporting its Colombian digital infrastructure, in time for World Cup 2018.

Entering the Colombian online betting market, Sportium will compete against familiar faces in Spanish gambling enterprises Grupo Codere (Codere.com.co) and Luckia Espana who this February launched new vertical Luckia.co.

Colombian enterprises’ Corredor Emperearial, Vicca Group and Colbet are among the other brands licensed for the Colombian betting market.

In its latest market update, Colombian gambling regulator Colijuegos detailed that it anticipated licensing around 15 online operators in 2018.
