Issuing a short corporate statement, Stockholm-listed European sports betting operator Unibet Group Plc (Unibet) has confirmed that it has become the first online gambling firm to integrate BankID in Sweden.

Sweden’s BankID is a user electronic identification system which will allow the operator to action faster and more efficient authentication & verification processes for its customers

In its corporate update, Unibet governance detailed that BankID would be initially integrated within its Unibet and Maria brands, with the operator seeking to bolster its user safety and security initiatives for the Swedish market.

Commenting on the update Daniel Gambin, Head of Player Safety at Unibet Group declared;

“By integrating BankID, we continue to show our commitment to innovative solutions by being the first operator in the gambling space to make use of this technology. As well as improving the customer experience, it adds a great deal of security to the account and together with other electronic verification solutions serves to improve the safety and security of our Swedish customer base”.

At present BankID is the leading financial electronic identification system for Sweden with 6.5 million unique users registered on its system. The platform registers millions of transactions for Swedish private and public services.
