Carlos Hernández Rivera steps down as head of DGOJ Spain

Spanish gambling regulator ‘la Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego’ (DGOJ) has confirmed that Carlos Hernández Rivera has stepped down as its Director General.

The Spanish Council of Ministers announced the departure of Hernández Rivera as its DGOJ leader last Friday, and have begun the search for his replacement.

Hernández Rivera a former state counsellor in the field of technology and innovation ends his three-year tenure as Director General of the DGOJ.  

Prior to becoming the head of the Spanish gambling regulatory body, Hernández Rivera had worked as state lawyer for the Ministry of Justice advising multiple government and commercial entities.

The Council of Ministers thanked Hernández Rivera for his contribution in progressing Spanish gambling regulations and overall agenda for both retail and online gambling sectors.

Hernández Rivera has returned to his former legal placement as a state lawyer. The DGOJ will update the market and Spanish gambling stakeholders on the appointment of its leadership successor.
