Is Switzerland about to make a mistake?

Is Switzerland about to make a mistake?

People have voiced over, saying a limitation of the internet would eventually lead to security flaws and other related problems. We are talking about a “gambling limitation” where Switzerland has proposed a Bill to limit access foreign gambling-related games, thus giving more power to the state, regarding this domain. But it looks like this Bill could be like a two-edged knife, with deep implications in both the negative and positive aspects of the problem. But besides the obvious advantages of having a more private online-existence and giving more power to technological advances, it is also protecting it’s businesses.

On the other hand…

The integration of digital technologies into everyday life, could be slowed down, due to imposed blocking and reduced information; also as we mentioned about security flaws, things will be much more complicated for both internet providers and client ( e.g. gambling company ). Transfer security, and privacy of the customers might also be affected.

It is uncertain what the outcome might be. As for now, the Gambling Act is being revised by the National Council commission, which will have to take in consideration the long-term risks that they will expose themselves to, in addition to the advantages mentioned so far in the new changes.

One more important thing that needs to be taken in consideration, is the fact that nowadays, evading internet blocking has become a matter of a few clicks, whether you are using a software, or you are setting it yourself. So, without a powerful blocking tool, this measure could prove to be ineffective.
