Former Anti-Gambling State in the U.S. Moving Toward Gambling

Residents living in the U.S. state of South Carolina have been prohibited from gambling for decades. Lawmakers in the state have said no to regulated gambling but as the state’s economy is in trouble, their stance is beginning to change.

This week in North Charleston, the city council voted to overturn the ban on casino gambling. This could very well pave the way for allowing casino boats take their spots on the city’s Cooper River. There were several South Carolina residents who showed up at the meeting to voice their displeasure with the idea of lifting the ban on gambling. The final council vote however was 7 to 4 in favor of lifting the ban.

Now residents of North Charleston will just have to be patient to see what happens next. If all goes well those boats will be allowed to offer gambling to the residents who have not been able to gamble in their state for decades.
