#Sky Betting and Gaming has confirmed the closure of its social gaming business.
A spokeperson for the company has confirmed that the decision had been taken after an internal review found that #social games do not form part of the company’s core offering.
The division was led by Bruce Bale, a former executive at social media website Facebook, who joined the business in 2013.
In January 2015, Sky Betting and Gaming launched flagship social casino title #Hollywood Slots.
In March, CVC Capital Partners completed a deal to acquire Sky Betting and Gaming from UK pay-television broadcaster Sky for £800m (€1.1bn/$1.23bn).
At the time of the initial announcement of the takeover deal in December, Sky said it would receive cash of £600 million upon completion of the deal as well as further deferred and contingent considerations up to the value of £120 million.
