Charles Town Casino in West Virginia: Table Gambling Bringing in Lots of Revenue

For the third consecutive month, table gambling at the Charles Town casino in West Virginia exceeded expectations as it raked in a whopping $9.4 million in revenue during September. This is more than the state’s four other casinos bring in combined.

Charles Town’s success has helped to off-set financial downturns for the two northern Panhandle racetracks/casinos which have been hurt recently from the success of the newer casinos in the Pittsburgh area as well as from the brand new casino The Greenbriar, which has not been performing so well. The Greenbriar opened its doors in early July and has earned 7.5% less than the state’s lottery commission had projected.

The Charles Town casino attracts players from the wealthy Baltimore-Washington DC metropolitan area. The casino has been scrambling to hire new licensed dealers to keep the nearly 100 gaming tables open around the clock.
