The European Union is gradually coming to grips with the diversity in jurisdictional regulations regarding the online gambling industry. A recent announcement that the European Online Dispute Resolution platform is now up and running as of mid February is very good news indeed for those online gamblers living in the European Union. The Online Dispute Resolution platform will focus on issues that consumers of internet betting products in the E.U. have encountered.

After a delay of about a month the service is now operational and customers are being directed to the platform by the United Kingdom’s gambling commission. The new Online Dispute Resolution is being explained by the many online betting sites that are operating as regulated entities telling consumers about the ODR and its benefits for resolving disputes although the local alternative dispute resolution platform is still available to those with issues and residing in the same E.U. member state that the operator is part of.

The European Online Dispute Resolution service will act as a solution of last resort when a resolution from the casino is unacceptable.

The European Online Dispute Resolution platform has been created to  help consumers, and it will also benefit players who need support from online casinos and other gambling sites. Online gambling operators will be using the roll out of the service as an opportunity to comply with the European Union’s initiative to provide the internet wagering industry with a transparent and honest system that will build confidence for the consumer. Most online gambling disputes are normally handled well by the online casinos but for those problems that cannot be resolved  players can file a complaint with the ODR which will then handle and respond  with a neutral third-party involved. According to EU standards many leading brands such as, 888 Casino, William Hill Casino, Gala Casino and others will refer players to ODR for any unresolved complaints.
