On Thursday night, the No. 20 Virginia Tech Hokies took a 28-21 victory against Georgia Tech, maintaining their Atlantic Coast Conference five-game winning steak. The Hokies and the Yellow Jackets met in Blacksburg, Virginia. The Hokies’ David Wilson returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown with only 2 minutes and 23 seconds remaining in the game, putting Virginia Tech a touchdown ahead of Georgia Tech.

Georgia Tech had to play the second half of the game without its quarterback Joshua Nesbitt. Nesbitt was injured near the end of the first half trying to make a tackle.

Michigan has received a third year of probation from the NCAA as the result of practice and training violations. The NCAA will not be punishing Rich Rodriguez or the football program for a problem that arose a few days before last season.

Rodriguez is in his third season with the Michigan Wolverines with a record of 13-19. The violations include his failing to promote an atmosphere of compliance in the program, but the charge was reduced to a failure to monitor the details.

Paralyzed football player Eric LeGrand, a former player for Rutgers, was admitted to Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in West Orange, New Jersey, with a high fever. Green is a neurosurgeon and chairman of The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at the University of Miami.

Three Penn State football players were named to the ESPN Academic All-District football team: sophomore defensive end Pete Massaro, guard Stefen Wisniewski, and linebacker Chris Colasanti.
