CBC Sports’ Scott Moore Joins Rogers Media

Just one day after his departure from his position as head of CBC Sports, Scott Moore has announced he will be joining Rogers Media where he has been named as president of broadcasting, a new position within the company.

Another staffing change at Rogers Media came from Keith Pelley, who also announced that Leslie Sole was promoted to chief content officer.

Rogers Media is a component of Rogers Communications Inc., a company that includes broadcasting and digital media assets, as well as owns the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team.

Moore’s responsibilities as president of broadcasting will include overseeing Rogers’ television holdings and all its radio properties. Moore will also head the programming, sales, production, regulatory, engineering, and distribution departments of the company. Rogers Media’s television holdings include Citytv, Sportsnet, and OMNI. Moore was an award-winning producer with Rogers Media before he left the company and joined CBC.

Sole oversaw the expansion of the Rogers television division before accepting the new role as chief content officer. As chief content officer, Sole will be responsible for the creation and execution of the Rogers Media content strategy.

“The breadth of industry knowledge that Leslie and Scott bring to the table will be of great benefit,” said Pelley. “It’s an exciting time in our industry and Leslie and Scott will ensure that Rogers Media is positioned to perform in a feverishly competitive environment.”

Moore’s announcement that he was leaving his position as executive director of CBC Sports and general manager of the CBC Revenue Group will likely renew concerns and speculations that the network will lose Hockey Night in Canada in 2014, when its current deal expires.
