188BET to sponsor first all weather fixture at Newcastle racecourse

Following yesterday’s announcement that 188BET has become an Authorised Betting Partner (ABP) of British Racing, Arena Racing Company (ARC) has announced that the company will be sponsoring the first all-weather fixture at Newcastle Racecourse on Tuesday 17th May. Newcastle_Racecourse_Information_Board_-_geograph.org.uk_-_958348

The 188BET First All-Weather Race Day will be a £60,000, seven race card with a feature £20,000 handicap.  188BET will sponsor six races with Tapeta Footings sponsoring the seventh race.

188BET’s Managing Director, Nigel Singer said of the news: “We are delighted to be the official sponsor of the first all-weather fixture to take place at Newcastle Racecourse. 188BET is committed to providing a strong horseracing product for our customers and sponsoring the first ever all-weather meeting at Gosforth Park reinforces this commitment.”

David Leyden Dunbar, Head of Partnerships at ARC, said: “It is of course further good news for British Racing that 188BET is now an Authorised Betting Partner of the sport and we are really pleased that they will be sponsoring the first all-weather fixture at Newcastle Racecourse.”

He added: “We look forward to working with them on this very exciting race day, marking a new era for Newcastle Racecourse and we hope future collaboration will be possible.”

In total ARC has invested close to £12m into Gosforth Park over the last year. This has seen the conversion of the flat track into a world class all-weather tapeta surface with the first ever floodlit straight mile.  In addition to this, there has been a number of other improvements to the equine facilities at the racecourse, above and beyond what was initially planned. This includes the resurfacing of the entire parade ring and winner’s enclosure, a modernisation of the vets’ facilities and stable yard, a new fibresand area for horses to recover in and more.

With the external works at the racecourse almost complete the ARC Executive will undertake a wider review of the entire estate at Gosforth Park in order to develop a future plan for potential further investment in internal facilities for guests and racegoers.

David Williamson, Executive Director of Newcastle Racecourse, said: “The £12 million project to create a world class all-weather surface at Newcastle Racecourse is nearing completion.  I would like to put on record our thanks to Tapeta Footings and Stobarts for their hard work and professionalism throughout this complex project.”

He continued: “We are continuing to work with the BHA and will conduct trial gallops on the track in order to gauge feedback from jockeys and trainers. We look forward to welcoming everyone on 17 May for the launch of all-weather racing at Newcastle.”
