Betclic re-enters Belgium following B+ licence approval

betclicbelgiumBelgium’s Gambling Commission (BGC) has granted Betclic Everest Group approval to offer licensed online sports betting and slot services under the betclic.be domain.

The approval sees Betclic Everest re-enter the Belgium online gambling market, which it was forced to withdrawal from in 2012 following numerous complaints and fines from the Gambling Commission which saw its brands blacklisted by the BGC.

This week the BGC confirmed that the Betclic brand had been approved its B+ license for online betting services, through its partnership with Belgian land-based arcade operator Pres Carats Sports SA.

Belgian online betting laws require digital enterprises to have a land-based presence, which can be obtained via a joint partnership.

In Q4 2015, Betclic Everest governance publicly stated that the company would look to cooperate with Belgium regulatory stakeholders, in order to re-enter the market.

The Malta licensed operator will likely re-start its marketing services for Belgium in the coming months, as Betclic Everest management looks to extend Betclic’s profile and coverage beyond its core market of France.
