Darren Haines takes the Tipster Challenge at Catterick

Darren HainesDarren Haines, PR Director at Heavyweight Sports, has become the latest Guest to accept the Tipster Challenge, providing expert tips for each of today’s races at Catterick!

Haines joined Heavyweight Sports in 2014, after serving in similar roles for Ryman and Paddy Power. The company specialises in Sports Marketing and PR, and works with some of the biggest names in the industry including Paddy Power, William Hill and Unibet.

For today’s #tipsterchallenge, he will be up against SBC News, Stephen Harris, Horse Racing Guru at bettingexpert, and the experts from Timeform. Can he keep the Guests on top of the leaderboard?

The action gets underway at 2:00, with all four tipsters backing the second favourite, Peach Pavlova!

SBC News: Peach Pavlova

Particularly encouraging debut at Thirsk, running away from 3rd place for a creditable runner up finish.

bettingexpert: Peach Pavlova

Made an encouraging debut at Thirsk despite looking to need the run beforehand, and can improve dramatically for that initial experience.

Timeform: Peach Pavlova

Doesn’t have an ideal draw in stall 11, but her debut effort was very encouraging, and she gets the nod to confirm that positive impression and score.

Heavyweight Sports: Peach Pavlova

Ran well on debut at Thirsk, and should get today off to a flier as well at 4/1 this morning.

SBC News: Noah Amor

Improving form, and well set to win this after a few pull-outs left behind a pretty average field.

bettingexpert: La Asomada

Sets the standard on the pick of her placed form this season and will relish firm ground back at the minimum trip.

Timeform: Noah Amor

On a fair mark starting out in handicap company, and he could well be worth chancing to prove the point in a pretty ordinary 3-y-o contest.

Heavyweight Sports: Noah Amor

So many non-runners here have seen the race cut up, but the Middleham Park horse looks an obvious type.

SBC News: Fillydelphia

Finished ahead of race favourite San Cassiano at Musselburgh last month, and could surprise again.

bettingexpert: San Cassiano

Plum draw to get a good early position, and has been shaping well in recent defeats.

Timeform: San Cassiano

With Pertuis a non-runner, San Cassiano heads up the list of viable winners.

Heavyweight Sports: Bright Applause

Saves his best for Catterick and looked on the way back last time after a short absence. Has won off a higher mark and should be thereabouts today.

SBC News: Invermere

Got back to winning ways on course and distance this month. Enhanced chances without Birkdale.

bettingexpert: Firesnake

Could be a spot of value from stall one and a talented 7lb claimer in the saddle.

Timeform: Invermere

With Birkdale now a non-runner, the in-form Invermere looks the horse to beat.

Heavyweight Sports: Brockholes

The horse I originally liked, Birkdale, is a non-runner but Brockholes was the danger. Yard a touch out of form but the filly is almost certainly well handicapped and currently 9/2.

SBC News: El Principe

Mrs Biggs has just a single win from 19 starts, so we’ll go with the other favourite, El Principe.

bettingexpert: Mrs Biggs

Hails from a small yard enjoying a very hot spell, and could relish this marked drop down in trip.

Timeform: El Principe

Lightly-raced profile makes him stand out in this low-grade sprint handicap, and he’s worth chancing to build on an encouraging reappearance to shed his maiden tag here.

Heavyweight Sports: El Principe

Ran well in a competitive handicap at Doncaster, and this drop back to 6f could well suit.

SBC News: Exotic Guest

Runner up over 6f on his last two handicaps, and taken to go one better here.

bettingexpert: Atreus

Has been knocking on the door in similar races of late, and will relish the fast ground if he gets luck in the running.

Timeform: Exotic Guest

Has been knocking on the door in more competitive races than this recently and, provided he gets a sound pace to run at, this looks and ideal chance for him to get off the mark for the season.

Heavyweight Sports: Bold Spirit

Well handicapped and has the headgear back on. Could nick this from the front.

SBC News: Scarpeta

Runner up at Nottingham and Chelmsford in the last two races, but has found a winnable race here.

bettingexpert: Argyle

Had excuses last time and looks well treated here, if he can get back to the form of his runner-up effort at Windsor in April.

Timeform: Scarpeta

Has been in good form in handicaps of late, and arguably didn’t make it enough of a test when runner-up at Chelmsford recently.

Heavyweight Sports: Dusky Raider

Scarpeta could play a part here, but Dusky Raider might well have found its distance following a recent step up.

SBC News: Perfect Words

Twice a winner over this course and distance, and has found a good low draw.

bettingexpert: Perfect Words

A good low draw to work from, and plenty of pace to aim at.

Timeform: Seamster

Seamster and See Vermont arrive in good heart, particularly the former, so they warrant respect.

Heavyweight Sports: Seamster

Hard to back at 6/4, but in a tough race to pick anything from it looks to be that or an early trip to the hog roast van!
