The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has moved to temporarily suspend the operating license of interactive TV gambling operator Smart Live Gaming (www.smartlivegaming.com).
Issuing a market update on Friday 8 August, the UKGC declared that it was undertaking a review of parent company Smart TV Broadcasting Limited.
Acting under section 116 of the UK Gambling Act, the regulator stated that it believed SmartLive Gaming were at present “unsuitable to carry on licensed activities and considers it appropriate to suspend the licenses with immediate effect pending the conclusion of the review”.
For an interim period Smart Live Gaming will now have its UK remote operating license suspended awaiting its UKGC review.
In order to comply with the review process, the commission has requested that Smart Live Gaming moves to settle any outstanding customer balances on its related products. The commission acknowledged that it was aware that “there are currently customers who have outstanding balances in their accounts with the operator. Regrettably, at this point we have no further information on the position of customer funds.”
The UKGC further informed that consumers and the industry would be updated with regards to its review of Smart TV Broadcasting
