Roger Goodell – Vegas Raiders has no connection with gambling

Despite the NFL franchise owners overwhelmingly supporting (31-1) the relocation of the Oakland Raiders to Las Vegas Nevada. Roger Goodell, Chief Commissioner of the NFL states that the league will not change its stance on the issue of US legal sports betting.

Speaking to US media, Goodell restated that the NFL opposed all forms of betting on its matches. Goodell detailed that the Las Vegas Raiders project, had no attachment to any gambling enterprise despite its relocation to the US’ gambling mecca.

“The integrity of our game is No. 1. We will not compromise on that. The NFL strongly oppose [among ownership] legalized sports gambling” Goodell told ESPN Sports.

Goodell made no comment on whether the NFL would request all Las Vegas casinos and licensed bookmakers to withdraw betting on Raiders matches.

“We’ll study it further, but I think at this point in time that’s not our position,” noted the NFL Chief Commissioner.

Questioned numerous times regarding the NFL’s position on gambling since its approval of the Las Vegas Raiders franchise, Goodell stated that the subject matter had not been discussed with any owners.

Instead the NFL commissioner detailed that he was happy to secure its first team in Nevada, and within the fastest growing city in the USA
