Vice explores the rise of political betting

This April, youth news and entertainment publisher Vice.com has highlighted the growth of political betting markets in a video segment titled Why British People are Betting on Trump’s Impeachment’.

Produced by journalist Jake Warren, Vice’s reports on the ‘rise of political betting’ in the wake of an unprecedented 2016 which saw Britain vote to leave the European Union and former reality TV star Donald Trump becoming the 45th President of the United States of America.

The Vice video segment sees Warren interview Ladbrokes Head of Politics Matthew Shaddick who gives detailed insight into how bookmakers’ create political betting markets and what punters are betting on.

Whilst political betting markets may not match the wagering levels recorded by football, Shaddick states that the rise in their popularity has been visible and ‘good for bookmaker businesses’.
