Sweden’s gambling regulator Lotteriinspektionen, has confirmed the appointment of Camilla Rosenberg as Acting Director General, as Swedish Parliament reviews its national gambling framework.
Updating industry stakeholders, Lotteriinspektionen governance confirmed that Rosenberg who has acted as internal Head of Operations will takeover leadership of the regulator as of 15 May.
The appointment sees Rosenberg replace Haken Hallstedt as Director General, who left the regulatory body in December 2016 as Lotteriinspektionen redrafted its first national gambling review.
Last March Lotteriinspektionen delivered its first mandate of provisions for the potential regulatory framework of the Swedish gambling market.
Key provisions saw Lotteriinspektionen recommend a 18% tax charge for online gambling verticals. Furthermore, Lotteriinspektionen advised the Swedish government to explore the potential sale of state-owned gambling operator Svenska Spel in order to create fair market conditions for home-based and foreign operators.
Swedish gambling stakeholders will look to push any mandate for Swedish gambling reform in 2017, aware of upcoming National Elections in 2018. At present, It is understood that the new regulatory regime will become effective as from January 1, 2019.
