ODDSbible kickstarts the new Tipster Challenge at Chester

After a slight pause, the Tipster Challenge is back with a bang this week for the Flat Season. However, there is a slight twist for the competition, which continues to be sponsored by Betting Gods.

Starting today at Chester, our experts will still be submitting tips for each race at a chosen Wednesday meet. Yet they will also be asked to confirm a ‘Nap of the Day’, which scores double points.

Joining bettingexpert’s Stephen Harris and Timeform at Chester is Alex Donohue. Formerly the PR Manager at Ladbrokes, Donohue has joined the LADbible Group by taking up the position of Brand Partnerships Manager within the company’s ODDSbible division.

The Jump Season Tipster Challenge for 2016/17 was won by AppBet’s Sarah Shannon, with Betway’s Alan Alger second and Easyodds’ Jacob Johns coming in third place.

bettingexpert: Requinto Dawn

Has posted two useful efforts and is better drawn than his serious rival on form.

Timeform: Requinto Dawn

Richard Fahey’s Brocklesby winner sets the standard. He improved when second at Musselburgh later in April, and is the one to beat.

ODDSbible: Big Time Maybe

Crack Chester jockey and trainer duo can land this race despite the wide draw. Prepared to take a chance at draw-affected price on the basis Kingscote bounces out of the wide gate and remains handy.

bettingexpert: Enable (Nap of the Day)

John Gosden’s 3yo shaped well when third to a well backed stablemate on her seasonal debut (run checked when cruising and not given a hard time by any means). She is open to improvement after just two career starts and now has Dettori taking over in the saddle.

Timeform: Alluringly

It was hard not to be impressed by the way Alluringly did the job at Tipperary and she’s taken to provide connections with a third consecutive winner in this contest.

ODDSbible: Enable

O’Brien can’t win them all (he probably can) so hoping Enable strikes for another set of connections in great form. The fact that Gosden pitches her for this race despite bare form on offer may be a tip.

bettingexpert: Confessional

Shaped well in defeat a few times last season and has loads of early pace to aim at in the closing stages (both stalls 1 and 2 confirmed trailblazers).

Timeform: El Astronaute

He did well to make a winning return to action at Newmarket last month given how freely he raced, ultimately showing a good attitude to get back up close home from the re-opposing/subsequent-winner Majestic Hero.

ODDSbible: Taexali

Always enjoy seeing these colours pop up on courses up and down the country and it looks like Thistle Bloodstock may have found a winnable race on this occasion if the horse can find a little bit from a good draw.

bettingexpert: Montaly

Lost his form but returns here on a handy mark, will love the ground/extreme test of stamina at Chester and has a great draw in two to work from.

Timeform: Blakeney Point

Has done nothing but improve as a stayer and, with plenty of the other main contenders drawn significantly wider, he could capitalise on an excellent tactical position to land his first big prize.

ODDSbible: Fun Mac

A unique race and a spectacle I’ve always enjoyed watching but not necessarily betting on over the years. Plenty of runners which would be good stories and from a sporting perspective I’d love to see Golden Spear win, but I think there could be a few hard luck tales so I’ll take a chance on Fun Mac staying on from the back at a big price.

bettingexpert: Here And Now

Has looked promising on all three starts and should get a good early position from stall one.

Timeform: Stradivarius (Nap of the Day)

Has been hiked up 12lb on the back of his Beverley success last month, but that was a performance full of promise, and he can do better still as his stamina is drawn out further.

ODDSbible: Stradivarius (Nap of the Day)

Wins with ease en route to bigger and better things at Ascot. Simple!

bettingexpert: Never Surrender

Should appreciate fast ground at this unique Chester track if Jamie Spencer can navigate a clear passage.

Timeform: Meccabah

The vote goes to the sole filly in the line-up, who stuck to her task well when finding only a superbly-bred newcomer too good at Kempton recently.

ODDSbible: Bristol Missile

This race could turn out to be a good maiden and there are plenty of interesting runners, but I’ll side with Richard Hannon’s expensive and well-bred runner on the basis that the level of improvement expected and hoped for would be enough to win today.

bettingexpert: Zapper Cass

Has joined an astute small yard and looks overpriced from a good draw if ready to go after five months on the sidelines.

Timeform: Gin In The Inn

The hat-trick beckons for a horse who was impressive when showing a clean pair of heels at Pontefract last week and is a big step ahead of the handicapper under a penalty.

ODDSbible: Gabrial The Tiger

Good course form which counts for plenty round here and it wouldn’t be Chester without a winner for Dr Marwan. Useful claimer booked and likely to be a very fair price.
