Racing UK agrees deal to broadcast Breeders’ Cup World Championships

Racing UK will show the Breeders’ Cup World Championships live from Del Mar on November 3-4 in a special free-to-air broadcast on Sky 432.

The horseracing broadcaster has agreed to a new partnership with The Breeders’ Cup, which will enable viewers to watch the event in HD. Furthermore, the coverage, which is being produced by NBC Sports, includes all four championship races on the Friday, and nine championship races on the Saturday.

Seb Vance, PR and communications director of Racecourse Media Group, parent company of Racing UK, said: “We’re looking forward to showcasing Breeders’ Cup 2017 and offering it the broadcast, digital and marketing promotion this world-class event merits.

“RMG’s relationship with Breeders’ Cup has really developed over the last year. All seven of the British Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series races are broadcast on Racing UK, and we have supported the event through increased promotion, coverage and archive support, while RMG also produced last year’s world feed.

“Contractual obligations already in place mean that we will be unable to show the Breeders’ Cup Classic due off at 12.35am (GMT), but viewers will no doubt be able to watch all the European runners in action, while Luck On Sunday, the following morning, will have all the fall-out from what will be a stellar two days of terrific competition.”

Drew Fleming, senior vice-president, Breeders’ Cup Ltd, said: “Breeders’ Cup is excited to partner with Racing UK to expand our coverage of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and increase the value of our investment in the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series.”

One the event’s most anticipated races is the Breeders’ Cup Mile, the current favourite for the race is Richard Fahey trained Ribchester, the 3/1 shot will be hoping to follow up successful outings in the Lockinge Stakes, Queen Anne and Prix du Moulin, with a win at Del Mar this year.
