AGA America appoints Penn National’s Tim Wilmott as next Chairman

US gambling industry body, The American Gaming Association (AGA) has confirmed that Tim Wilmott CEO of Penn National Gaming Inc, will serve as its next Executive Chairman.

Updating stakeholders, the AGA board confirmed that Wilmot would serve a two-year chairmanship beginning in January 2018, replacing current incumbent Jim Murren CEO of MGM Resorts.

Wilmott has been involved with AGA governance since 2015, advising the body on wider stakeholder policy as an Executive Committee member. Wilmot has further chaired the body’s Finance and Investment Committee.

Taking on the AGA’s Chairmanship, Tim Wilmott CEO of Penn National Gaming stated that he would continue Murren’s work and progress at extending US gambling’s wide business policy and agenda.

Geoff Freeman President and Chief Executive of the AGA, backed the appointment of Wilmot as new Chair and thanked Murren’s contribution to AGA initiatives.

“I am indebted to Jim (Murren) for his tremendous leadership over two consecutive terms as our Chairman,” said Freeman.

“Throughout, he has been committed to modernizing the association and has led an era marked by significant progress on important matters of policy and building stronger relationships in Washington and with key stakeholders across a variety of industries.

“We are fortunate to have Tim as our next chairman. His passion for our industry, shared vision and deep involvement on a number of critical issues assures a smooth and successful transition into the future. Tim will be instrumental in driving the implementation of our 2020 Strategic Plan and I know I speak for our team, and the entire industry, when I say we look forward to working together.”
