As part of an 8-hour company Charity Hack Day “Hack 4 Quacks,” Sky Betting & Gaming techies raised over £6,000 for Leeds-based charity Give a Duck this week.
The event utilised employees’ tech, coding and bug hunting skills to help unearth security flaws across several key company systems, with cash awards for the severity of the bug.
Furthermore, uncovering security flaws early prevents incidents of widespread abuse, protecting the company and customers.
The organiser of this year’s Charity Hack Day and Technical Vulnerability Analyst at Sky Betting & Gaming, Glenn Pegden said: “The Charity Hack Day this year was bigger and better than ever, with more employees choosing to get involved and experienced bug hunters giving up their time to provide mentoring and assistance to less experienced colleagues, all of whom went on to log their first ever bug.
“It was great to be involved in planning the event for a good cause and the atmosphere on the day was amazing.”
Those taking part in the Charity Hack Day agreed to donate all cash bounties awarded on the day to the company’s charity for the year, Give a Duck.
