Betway Group digs deep to provide for worthy cause

The Betway Group has announced that its employees have raised over £70,000 for one of its charity partners, the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS).

EFDS works to make active lives possible by enabling organisations to support individual disabled people to be active and stay active for life. The national charity looks to a better future where everyone can enjoy the opportunities available. Established in September 1998, EFDS has a vision that disabled people are active for life.

The funds raised will go towards the EFDS Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI), which supports facility providers to improve their services to become more inclusive to disabled people. IFI relies on sponsorship and fundraising to increase opportunities for disabled people to be active in their local areas. Also, volunteering opportunities, that enable more disabled people to take part in events.

In 2016, over 100 Betway employees participated in the Silverstone Half Marathon raising £25,000 for the same charity.

Commenting on this latest fund-raising achievement, Betway CEO Anthony Werkman, said: “We are really pleased to have raised over £70,000 for the English Federation of Disability Sport, and are proud of all Betway Group employees who have contributed to this worthy cause.

“We are always looking to contribute to different charities and in 2018, our employees will vote on which charities Betway should partner with.”

The West Ham United sponsor also announced that it is to donate almost £16,000 to the Jessie May Children’s Hospice At Home. The donation relates to Betway’s sponsorship of the UK Snooker Championship in York that concluded last week, where £10 was pledged for every century break – plus an extra £10 for every point scored over 100.
