I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here is Set to Return on November 14, 2010

The tenth series of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here will be aired on the 14th of November. This behind-the-scenes reality programme has been wildly popular in the UK and is broadcast on ITV2 in the UK and TV3 in Ireland. If you haven’t seen it yet, the show is filmed in Australia wherein celebrities live in jungle conditions with few creature comforts.

The celebrites featured on the show are asked to name a charity to which the producers make donations. Of course the celebs are paid to compensate them for any possible loss of income they may experience while on the show. The media is kept in the dark regarding the exact details of the contracts the celebrities are under which naturally keeps the tabloids all abuzz with speculations. Money is raised from viewers voting by phone text message or via the ‘red button’ for the celebrity they would like to complete a Bushtaker Trial which is a challenge that usually involves creepy crawlers of some type typical of the jungle. As the show progresses through the series, viewers are asked to vote for who they think is the winner. The celebs are voted off the programme and the last one remaining wins by being declared ”King of the Jungle” or ”Queen of the Jungle”.

Oddball former politician Lembit Opik has become the latest celeb to commit to heading to the jungle. And this self-proclaimed ladies’ man is in for a real treat as the beautiful Swedish actress Britt Ekland has also signed on this season. Lembit is clearly trying to reinvent himself as a comedian after getting the boot from his political consituency. Sources say that while Lembit’s jokes are not exactly the best, he does try to be funny. He should be quite good at keeping the peace in the jungle camp – either that or he will end up driving people nuts.

Nigel Havers, former Coronation Street star is also heading to the jungle this year. ITV brass thinks that Havers will pull in older female viewers who will be interested to see him strip down to take his showers and to watch him take part in the physical challenges.

If you’re a gambling type then you might want to place some bets with your pals over who will come out ahead this season and who’ll get the boot first. The show is sure to be interesting this year as sprinter Linford Christie has signed on as well as Gail Porter and 2009’s X Factor Stacey Solomon.

The show’s producers have recently disclosed this year’s grisly bushtucker delicacy – crocodile’s bum. It most likely will be cooked in one way or another as eating it raw is not recommended but it will certainly be disgusting no matter how it’s served up. In the past show participants had to endure eating fish eyeballs, camel testicles and cockroaches.
