Incredible Technologies Breaks into Gambling World

Incredible Technologies Inc. began in 1985 and devoted its time to developing state-of-the-art gaming equipment such as pinball machines and the Commodore 64. The Commodore 64 was a computer so named due to its remarkable 64 kilobytes of memory.

The company is continuing its history of developing state-of-the-art, in demand technology products, and is doing this today with the debut of its first line of video slot machines, which was debuted in June.

Incredible Technologies has been working on this new line of products since it decided five years ago to try its hand in casino technology. It had been providing barroom gaming equipment for 20 years and its most popular product, “Golden Tee Golf,” is the most popular coin-operated video game in the world.

“It’s been a natural progression for us,” said Elaine Hodgson, the founder and CEO of Incredible Technologies Inc. “The coin-op industry is contracting somewhat and the gaming industry is growing in the U.S. and internationally.”

Incredible Technologies Inc. tested the first round of Magic Touch slot machines this summer on board Royal Caribbean cruise ships. The machines received mixed reviews. According to Hodgson, the graphic interface of the machine was popular and did a good job of attracting gamblers to play on the machines, but the machines needed better ways of keeping the players interested for longer periods of time.

All slot machines are programmed to pay out a certain percentage in winnings; however, machines vary in how these winnings are paid. Some machines offer smaller but more regular jackpots while others promise larger but more rare prizes. Hodgson said the first round of machines did not get right the balance between winning and losing.

“There’s a certain feeling that your core slot players like to have and we had to learn what that was,” said Hodgson. “We didn’t really get it right the first time. You have to give people a good ride.”
