Mt. Airy Casino in Pennsylvania Fined $40,000

The Mt. Airy Casino Resort was slapped with a hefty $40,000 fine this week for several violations of the state’s self-exclusion rules. The Gaming Control Board in Pennsylvania approved a consent agreement with Mt. Airy for failing to prevent self-excluded people from betting on the casino gaming floor. The casino was charged with mailing out promotional materials to a self-excluded individual. This person received six mailings from the casino earlier this year.

The self-exclusion program is run by the state and was designed to assist problem gamblers who wished to ban themselves from gambling in the state’s casinos. Once someone has put themselves on the list, casinos are required to not allow these people to gamble. The people on the list also are not to receive promotional mailings or other forms of advertisements being sent out by casinos.
