Norway state-run national gambling operator Norsk Tipping has confirmed that Chief Executive Torbjørn Almild is set to step down from his leadership position at the end of 2016.

Norsk Tipping governance informed Norwegian business news sources that they had begun their search for Almild’s replacement.

Almild steps down as CEO of Norsk Tipping a position he had held since 2009. Under his leadership, the state-owned gambling firm had diversified its consumer products digitally to be more competitive with unlicensed international operators targeting the lucrative Norwegian betting market.

Linda Silseth Executive Chair of Norsk Tipping thanked Almild for his contribution to company growth and progress, further stating that Almild leadership had left the company in a much healthier position with competitive products and services benefiting Norwegian public/social causes.

Addressing business news sources on his retirement, Almild declared that he felt that 2016 was the right time for Norsk Tipping to gain a new CEO, following his eight years’ service with the company.
