Mobile touchscreen esports received a huge boost this week with the revelation that live streaming service Twitch has signed a deal with Vainglory’s developer Super Evil Megacorp.
The terms of the partnership will see the Vainglory Championships broadcast and promoted via Twitch for at least the next three years.
It’ll also see a multi-million dollar investment from both companies, and there’ll be a Vainglory focused Twitch team working on expanding the scene, gaining sponsorships, improving broadcasts, building on both on and offline events and more.
Vainglory is one of the most popular mobile games and was the biggest touchscreen esports title with over $350,000 in prize money globally last year.
Twitch Director of Esports Operations Nick Allen said: “The esports industry has been dominated by PC and console titles, but Vainglory is ushering in a new mobile games movement.”
Kristian Segerstrale, COO and Executive Director at Super Evil Megacorp said: “We’ve been working closely with Twitch since even before the global launch of Vainglory, and their massive, wildly passionate gaming community has helped our game develop a loyal and growing following.”
