Paddy Power delivers unofficial Scotland Euro 2016 anthem

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has released its latest video; an (assumedly) unwarranted Euro 2016 anthem for Scotland.

It features a host of Scottish celebrities including Michelle McManus, The Krankies, and ex-footballers Frank McAvennie and Andy Goram amongst a group marching through the rainy Highlands singing along with bagpipes and a drum keeping the rhythm. No Scottish stereotype is forgotten with a stand selling deep fried chocolate and the loch ness monster also making appearances.

The Krankies were on television regularly in the 1980s and are big in pantomimes, whilst Glaswegian McManus won the second series of Pop Idol. The song opens with the following lines and goes from there: “Where the hell are you from? We’re from Scotland. Do you think we’re gonna cry cos we didnae qualify? Forget it.”

You can watch it in full for yourself here:

This video was launched to kick off Paddy Power’s #ViveLaBantz campaign for the upcoming European Championship. Expect more of the same from the bookmaker in the coming weeks.
