Sports data and insights provider Sportradar AG is reported to be in the final stages of closing a six-year data-rights contract with the NBA valued at $250 million.

Its contract with the NBA will cover an array of data-distribution rights on behalf of the professional league, including match analysis, data reporting, statistics and the development of a streaming product.

In second-half of 2015 Sportradar, the leading European sports data provider, whose clients include numerous betting operators, sport governing bodies and governmental institutions announced that it would enter the US sports market.

The data provider formed a high-level ‘US Advisory Board’, consisting of well-renowned sports figures including Mark Cuban (owner of the Dallas Mavericks), Washington sports franchise mogul Ted Leonsis and NBA legend and Charlotte Hornets owner Michael Jordan .

Stating its intent on breaking the US sports market, Sportrader governance stated that its superstar advisory board and high-level investment was needed in order to swiftly develop commercially in the highly competitive US market.

Finalising its data partnership with the NBA, Sportradar will secure a full-house of major US Pro-league rights as the company services provisions to the NFL, NHL and MLB.
