Yesterday’s official publishing of the Labour Party Manifesto, has done little to convince political punters that Jeremy Corbyn is the man to back for the 2017 UK General Election (8 June).
Issuing a market update this morning, bookmaker William Hill has revealed that betting on the Tories is currently outmatching Labour wagers by 10:1.
Guided by the strapline “For The Many: Not The Few”, Corbyn’s manifesto seeks to impose £50 billion in annual tax rises for top UK earners (+ £80,000 per year), combined with a return to nationalising UK civic services such as the Royal Mail, National Grid and transport sectors.
“Despite the relatively prohibitive price of 1/16, the Tories have been well backed in the last 24 hours and we have seen £10.12 placed on them winning the General Election for every £1 on Labour,” said William Hill spokesman Joe Crilly.
However, despite Labour likely heading towards its worst UK General Election results, with UK polls indicating that the party may loss between 50-60 seats, William Hill has detailed that Corbyn is still being backed to remain as party leader post 8 June.
At present William Hill politics details that Corbyn is 2/9 to be Labour leader at 23:00 on 9th June. “Corbyn has made no secret of the fact that he intends to stay on and our punters overwhelmingly agree that he will,” Crilly added
