Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), The Netherlands Gaming Authority has announced that it will step up its enforcement efforts against online gambling operators deemed to be illegally targeting and servicing national consumers.
Issuing an industry warning, KSA Vice Chairman Henk HW Kesler stated that the authority would no longer tolerate ‘rogue’ operators offering illegal online betting and gambling services.
KSA senior figures are currently working on tougher penalties and restrictions against operators who target national consumers offering Dutch language services.
Last February, KSA announced its new industry guidance relating to national advertising and marketing standards. The authority moved to place advertising restrictions on all Netherlands-based media owners (print. Digital, TV & Radio) to ban unlicensed betting/gambling advertising.
Toughing its stance, KSA is reported to want to prohibit all ‘redirects’ from .nl domains to .com operator websites. Furthermore, the authority has urged international operators to ‘geo-block’ Dutch IP traffic and stop processing all payment transactions via Netherlands-based banks.
KSA has warned in the past that failure to comply with its restrictions, could see international operators blacklisted and forfeiting their right to apply for Dutch online gambling licenses, once the Netherlands fully regulates its market.
