Codere appoints Juan Bautista Ordóñez as Argentina lead

Spanish gambling operator Grupo Codere has confirmed the appointment of Juan Bautista Ordóñez as its first Argentina Chief Executive Officer.

A seasoned South American commercial executive, Bautista Ordóñez joins Codere’s executive team from Canadian multi-national mining firm Barrick Gold Corporation, where he formerly served as Managing Director of Argentina.

Taking leadership of ‘Codere Argentina’, Bautista Ordóñez will be tasked with guiding the firm’s Argentine growth strategy, operations as well as maintaining the group’s relationship with national policy/regulatory stakeholders.

Following a ‘year of transition’, in which corporate governance has changed the firm’s executive leadership make-up, Codere has set itself the target of becoming the leading Spanish-language multi-market gambling operator.

In Argentina, Codere operates a significant bingo halls and arcades presence across the Buenos Aires and Mar del Plata provinces. Targeting accelerated growth within South America, Codere is reviewing further Argentine provinces in which to expand its properties.

In its full-year 2017 corporate update, new Codere Group CEO Vicente Di Loreto revealed that the company would undertake major systems and product upgrades to help with the firm’s ongoing multi-market expansion.
