Piggy Pirates at Grand Duke casino

Join a crew of porkers and go pillaging for treasure in Piggy Pirates. Created by Red Tiger Gaming, it’s a 6 reel, 40 payline slot that comes with colourful cartoon design and a free spins round where all wilds that hit are collected and then added to the reels for a final super spin. Play on your PC, tablet or mobile from between 20p and £40 per spin.

The design of Piggy Pirates is very nicely done. The reels are set within a pair of pirate ships and include lower value heart, diamond, club and spade symbols alongside anchors, treasure maps, bottles of grog and pouches full of silver doubloons.

The best of the standard symbols is the jewel-filled treasure chest. Land 6 of these on the same payline and you’ll pocket 50 times your stake. The gold coin is the wild. It substitutes for everything bar the scatter (the 3 little pigs) and offers payouts of 100 times your stake if you manage to land 6 in combination.

The piggy pirates of the title appear at random then move across the screen 1 reel at a time until they drop off the screen – this is known as the Piggy Bonus feature. If all 3 piggies appear on the reels at the same time you’ll trigger, the game’s Unlimited Free Spins feature.

On offer here is an undefined number of free spins. Every time a wild symbol lands, it’s collected. The free spins continue until the Big Bad Wolf symbol appears. He’ll lob a bomb onto the reels. The piggy banks below the reels will explode and all the collected wilds are added to the reels for 1 final free spin.

This pirate re-telling of the Three Little Pigs story is an entertaining one. The cartoon visuals work well and the accordion-heavy soundtrack has a bit of Captain Pugwash about it (one for the teenagers there).

The base game action is steady enough but it’s the Unlimited Free Spins feature where the game comes into its own, especially if you manage to land a good number of wild coins during the free spins. Fill the reels with wilds on that final spin and some big results are possible.

The theme here might be remarkably silly but Piggy Pirates works pretty well. Add potential payouts of up to 2,000 times your total stake into the mix and it becomes a playable proposition.
