Mayan gods at Grand Duke casino

Based on the lost central American civilisation, Mayan Gods is a 5 reel, 20 payline slot from Red Tiger Gaming. Played using a symbol drop game engine, it comes with plenty of extras. They include giant 2×2 wilds, transforming symbols and multipliers. Play on all devices from between 20p and £100 per spin.

The colourful design is simple but very nicely done. The action takes place against a backdrop of jungle pyramids. The reels include 5 lower value runestone-style symbols and 4 higher value Mayan totems. The best of them is the red gem encased in gold which pays up to 25 times your stake if you land 5 in combination. There’s also a wild which replaces all other symbols and also pays 25 times your stake if you land 5 of them on a payline.

After a winner is landed, the symbols are removed and new ones drop in and replace them. The symbol drops continue until there’s a drop with no new winner. Each successive symbol drop also increases a multiplier by 1. There are also 4 Mayan symbols which can appear at random on any spin and award a modifier extras:

  • Mayan King feature – this is a giant 2×2 wild. It can fire out even more wilds onto the reels when it appears too.
  • Mayan Eclipse feature – the eclipse symbol plus a random assortment of tiles all transform into the same matching symbol. A new payout is then made.
  • Mayan UFO feature – this can fly onto the reels on any spin and turn lower value symbols into higher value ones. Again, a new payout follows with the new symbols in position.
  • Mayan Shaman feature – the Shaman increases the value of the current multiplier then blasts all the symbols off the reels to create a new symbol drop with the expanded multiplier in play.

There isn’t a traditional free spins round but the extras come along so regularly you won’t really notice. Combine that with the symbol drop game engine and you’ll get plenty of action. We enjoyed Mayan Gods. The bright and bold visuals are nicely crafted and there’s plenty of variety on offer in the gameplay.
