William Hill US’ executive team has confirmed that it has donated $50,000 to the New Jersey Council of Compulsive Gambling, as the bookmaker expands its ‘Nobody Harmed’ corporate directive beyond UK shores.
The NJ Council of Compulsive Gambling seeks to broaden its problem gambling treatment and awareness capacities, as the Garden State introduces its first sports betting premises.
William Hill US funding will help the council develop its first educational video depicting problem gambling harms, and directing concerned audiences to available treatment resources.
The Council’s video will be distributed online and via social media, and promoted through ads on TV, on the radio, online and in movie theatres.
“We are proud to partner with the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey on bringing attention to this extremely important issue,” said Joe Asher, CEO of William Hill U.S.
Asher confirms that William Hill’s donation has been funded by proceeds of its recent settlement with Fanduel made in relation to copying its New Jersey ‘How to Bet Guide’.
Neva Pryor, Executive Director of the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey thanked William Hill US for its contribution detailing –
“The Council is delighted to receive this donation in order to alert the public that problem gambling is a treatable disease and that there is help not only for the problem gambler but for the family as well,”
“The Council and its Board are neither for nor against gambling, but if you do gamble, do so responsibly. A new video has been produced through this generous contribution and targets the family to let them know that they are not alone and that there are support, treatment and hope through the 800-GAMBLER phone number and the 800GAMBLER.org website. There, they will find resources and help available 24 hours a day, 7days a week.”
