The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has strengthened its sports integrity capacity by entering a data-sharing agreement with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
The announcement sees the MGA continue its 2020 agenda of collaborating with wider industry stakeholders, seeking to directly tackle online gambling’s current threats and future challenges.
The ICC governs and administrates international cricket across the world, with its membership formed by 100 national bodies overseeing domestic cricket competitions.
The MGA detailed that it has secured an agreement which will facilitate the sharing of information between the two parties, strengthening provisions related to maintaining cricket’s integrity across all competitions.
Confirming the partnership, the MGA chose not to disclose further terms and data provisions attached to its agreement with the ICC.
MGA Sports Integrity Manager Antonio Zerafa stated: “This data sharing agreement with the ICC represents the Authority’s on-going commitment of combatting match-fixing and other types of manipulation in sports. In fact, this agreement will allow the MGA and the ICC to share crucial data related to the process of detecting, preventing and investigating activities related to the manipulation of sports competitions.”
