GambleAware refreshes ‘Safer Gambling Campaign’ for summer 2020

GambleAware has updated its nationwide ‘Safer Gambling Campaign’ to raise awareness of the National Gambling Treatment Service in the UK.

With the return of major sports broadcasting across TV and digital verticals, GambleAware has launched a ‘burst of new activity’ to support its #BetRegret safer gambling initiative and further awareness of the UK’s gambling harm prevention and support services.

Targeting an intense football period, featuring 92-matches over six weeks, GambleAware has commissioned a new #BetRegret series featuring ex-England goalkeeper David James ‘emphasising how easy it can be to make impulsive bets’.

The new #BetRegret series will be promoted across Sky’s YouTube channel and Twitter page, alongside other major digital platforms.

July and August will also see GambleAware launch ‘Start to Regain Control’ – a nationwide campaign promoting the National Gambling Treatment Service.

Revamped during 2019, the UK’s National Gambling Treatment Service is a network of NHS syndicated organisations working together to provide confidential treatment for anyone experiencing gambling-related harms – free to access across the UK.

Launching its print and media campaign, GambleAware stated that it is targeting ‘men aged 25-34’ and disconnected from their families and friends. It said they should have the confidence to access support services offered by the National Gambling Treatment Service network.

Further campaign initiatives see GambleAware promote the UK’s 24-hour National Gambling Helpline and increase general awareness of ‘self-referrals amongst those who are at high risk of problem gambling’ to treatment centres and online support programmes.
