Malta launches ‘Why iGaming’ campaign to attract fresh talent

Gaming Malta has teamed up with European-level counterpart iGEN to launch its new workforce initiative ‘Why iGaming’ which will focus on attracting new recruits to Malta’s thriving online gambling sector.

Launching the www.whyigaming.eu website, Gaming Malta – a non-profit set-up by the government of Malta – will collaborate with trade body iGEN’s 22 member companies to promote new roles within Malta’s igaming community.

The website will be further supported with a multinational campaign, informing foreign nationals of opportunities in Malta and information on relocating to the Mediterranean island in order to work in the industry.

Launching the directive, Ivan Filletti, COO of GamingMalta said: “This portal is in sync with our mission to position Malta as the Home of Gaming Excellence. A home where talent succeeds and thrives.

“An industry and iGaming ecosystem which promotes equality and diversity in their working culture. Why iGaming will serve as a real-time showcase for the industry and the exciting opportunities which it offers.”

Malta’s latest national workforce statistics revealed that igaming companies employ 7,000 full-time staff with a further 4,000 employed in ancillary roles.

Seeking to broaden Malta igaming’s talent pool, iGEN stated that while recruits were attracted by higher salaries, its research indicated that recruits ‘perceived many barriers to entry’ joining the igaming sector.

Enrico Bradamante, Chairman of iGEN said: “Malta continues to be an extremely important hub for iGaming. Our vision is to provide a way for the biggest and most established iGaming companies to connect with the local community and talent, in particular providing a resource to individuals who are interested in working in the sector.”

“Professionals can use our website to find out about our members, search for open roles and hear the truth about what it is like to work in the industry from a number of Maltese and foreign employees who work locally.

“This is not only in order to help fill current roles such as entry-level roles, customer support, finance roles and other management and executives roles, but also future opportunities as the site will be constantly updated.”
