William Hill IT lead Sarah Lucas recognised as top tech leader  

Sarah Lucas, William Hill’s head of IT infrastructure and cloud tech projects, has been recognised by IT publisher ‘Computing‘ (Incisive Media) as one of UK tech’s most dynamic and influential executives. 

Computing commended Lucas, naming her the ‘Hero of the Year’ for its prestigious ‘Women in Tech Excellence Awards’, which recognises the UK’s top female IT talents with the aim of championing diversity and inclusion amongst all corporate IT disciplines.

Lucas, who has led William Hill’s core technology infrastructure projects since 2015, was nominated by the key partners of Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMware, Computacenter and Perform Partners.

Satty Bhens, Group Chief Product and Technology Officer for William Hill, said of the win: “I’m thrilled to see Sarah recognised for her contribution, It’s well deserved. Women are under-represented at all levels in tech yet diverse teams, including gender are known to be higher-performing, more creative and innovative.

“Sarah’s recognition and her work in this space is a really positive step on our journey to create an inclusive company where everyone feels they belong.

Computing disclosed that Lucas had beaten a field of 800 nominations for the award, with judges recognising her track-record and effective management qualities which have helped her fulfil complex high-scale tech projects for the FTSE bookmaker.   

Lucas commented on winning the award: “These awards are so valuable as they recognise top-performing women from across the sphere of technology and provide that crucial inspiration for younger women looking to build careers in our industry. 

“It’s so important that young women in our industry see women represented in senior roles.”
