Caliente upgrade sees Genius Sports secure ‘another Mexican win’

Genius Sports has significantly advanced its LatAm market footprint, as Mexico’s Grupo Caliente expands its existing partnership with the sports tech firm to cover all wagering disciplines.

Recognised as Mexico’s biggest gambling group, Caliente has agreed for Genius Sports’ Betgenius division to serve as lead provider of all sportsbook management provisions for its flagship Caliente.mx brand.

Caliente upgrades its existing contract with Betgenius which will lead live data, live trading and streaming services for the Mexican operator, leveraging official sports data and video feeds from over 400 global competitions.

Moving forward, Caliente.mx will be powered by Betgenius high-quality real-time data and pricing for over 170,000 annual fixtures, with its betting markets complemented by over 20,000 live stream matches and games.

Emilio Hank, CEO of Caliente Interactive, said: “As the market leader in Mexico, we are always focused on providing our customers with the best possible product. We are excited to keep growing our content offering and to extend our long-term partnership with Genius Sports, as we continue to expand into other markets.”

Genius Sports underscored the partnership extension as ‘a further Mexican win’, having recently become the exclusive data supplier of Liga MX and Liga de Expansion – Mexico’s top flight of professional football sponsored by Caliente.

This week, Genius Sports published its merger statement to the SEC, outlining its intentions to float on the NYSE during the first quarter of 2021. The tech group highlighted its strong North and South American growth prospects to investors – pursuing a $1.5 billion valuation.

Fernando Martinez, Head of Commercial (LatAm) at Genius Sports Group, said: “As an established and ambitious operator, Grupo Caliente sees the long-term value of a partnership with Genius Sports and our global official sports content, for the benefit of its players and future profitability. With in-game betting in Mexico rapidly rising, expanding its content will ensure they can stay ahead of the game.”
