Victor Blanco to join Scientific Games as new CTO

The board of Scientific Games Corporation (SGC) has confirmed that Victor Blanco will join the Nasdaq technology group as Chief Technology Officer in 2022.

In his forthcoming role, Blanco will take responsibility for Scientific Games’ technology strategy across gaming, lottery, sports betting, and igaming, as well as support the development and execution of its range of games.

“Scientific Games has always been at the forefront of innovation, and I can’t wait to join this team,” Blanco commented. “The dream of any technology strategist is to work at an organisation like Scientific Games where creativity and innovation are at the heart of the company.”

Prior to joining Scientific Games, Blanco served as the CTO of Aristocrat where he was tasked with overseeing the company’s overall technology strategy. During this time, he was considered to have played an ‘instrumental role’ in developing the technologies which led to ‘a successful turnaround for Aristocrat’s land-based gaming business’.

Blanco also served as the director of software architecture for HTC and served in multiple software engineering roles at Microsoft, where he was part of the team that developed the first Xbox game console and online service.

“Victor’s innovative and strategic approach to both software and hardware design is a great fit for our Scientific Games leadership team,” Barry Cottle, Scientific Games president and CEO, said of the appointment.

“We know that his leadership will ensure we are providing the most innovative games, systems and products for our partners and players.”
