NYDIG survey shows that 47 million U.S. citizens hold Bitcoin

New York Digital Investment Group (NYDIG) recently published a new survey that shows that a whopping 46 million Americans are holding Bitcoin. This accounts to nearly 17% of the adult U.S. population. Survey results were shared in Newsweek. The survey included a national sample of 1050 U.S. crypto investors with a minimum of $50,000 in annual income.

A majority of respondents (53%) said they didn’t own digital assets, but 55% of those said they would consider diversifying with crypto.

A very interesting outcome of the survey is that almost all of the respondents said to be interested in learning more about Bitcoin annuities and Bitcoin life insurance:

“The survey found great interest in Bitcoin. About half the respondents said they want to receive some or all of their insurance benefits in Bitcoin, NYDIG’s survey found. Nearly 90% said they had some interest in insurance or annuity products that have at least some indirect link to Bitcoin”.

The result could come as a surprise considering Bitcoin’s volatility. Insurers would usually aim for stability and security. It has to be noted though that Bitcoin has been trading pretty consistent this year.

The survey also found that 85% of respondent is positive to the idea of insurers holding positions of 2% in Bitcoin. 15% of respondents do not like the idea.
