New Beach Housing Complex in Colombia Accepts Bitcoin for Purchases

Colombian real estate platform, La Haus, is allowing Bitcoin investors to purchase real estate with the cryptocurrency directly. Supporting this initiative, the platform is promoting bitcoin payments for a new housing project in an exclusive part of Santa Marta, called Natura City. The complex, situated juts 200 meters off the beach, is estimated to be completed by 2025. A featured apartment will cost approximately 2.19 Bitcoin or 400 million Colombian Pesos.

Depending on the needs of the buyer, properties can be paid for via the Lightning Network or on-chain. The buyer can decide what portion to pay in Bitcoin. Ranging from 100% in bitcoin to a small portion with the remainder paid via traditional means. To make this possible, La Haus partnered with payment processor OpenNode.

La Haus had already started accepting bitcoin payments for a housing development on Playa del Carmen, Mexico in November this year. The platform stated at the time that they wanted to extend Bitcoin payments to all of its listed properties., the company At that time, La Haus stated that its intention was to extend this payment option to all of the properties listed on its platform.

La Haus president, CFO and co-founder Rodrigo Sanchez-Rios, said:

A Visa survey in the beginning of the year showed that 25% of all credit card users in Latin America would like to experiment with cryptocurrencies for payments if they would have the opportunity to do so.
