McDonalds to Set Up Shop in the Metaverse, Trademark Applications Show

Global American restaurant chain McDonald’s is not missing out on the Metaverse, following application for 10 trademarks in the virtual space.

Trademark attorney and founder of Gerben Intellectual Property, Josh Gerben, revealed today that on February 4, the fast-food chain submitted a trademark application that include plans for “a virtual restaurant featuring actual and virtual goods” and “operating a virtual restaurant featuring home delivery.”

The documents reveal that the restaurant chain is venturing out from its core business and looks to offer “downloadable multimedia files” for artwork, audio and video files, and nonfungible tokens (NFT).

The popular McCafe brand is also included in McDonald’s Metaverse trademark application, to offer entertainment services “namely, providing on-line actual and virtual concerts and other virtual events.”
