Jack Mallers’ Strike to Partner with Shopify?

In a new episode of the Bitcoin Magazine Podcast, Strike’s CEO Jack Mallers sat down with host Alex McShane to discuss Bitcoin and his plans for 2022, in which he is committed to give global customers the best possible experience which Bitcoin can provide.

Recognizing that there are still many merchants that do not accept Bitcoin, Mallers sees a big opportunity for his Lightning Network powered Strike and says:

“I think someone needs to become a Shopify partner… Someone needs to integrate the big coffee merchants of the world.”

The Strike CEO compares the Bitcoin network with Google as a collective network connecting people around the globe:

“I personally see the world being a better place if Bitcoin was the monetary network for the world, I think the world would be a better place. I think society would function better. I think human freedoms and a lot of liberties would be reinstilled and protected and that there would be a renaissance of innovation for financial services and experiences.”

When discussing the situation in Canada where the government freezes financial means of protesters and those involved, Mallers believes that the Lightning Network has a role to play. He notes:

“The ongoing work in optimizing the protocol to be successful but also retain the properties that make it important and allow it to survive… Trying to ensure that we make a resilient, private, open monetary network and enable good experiences on top of it.”
