NFT Gaming Most Popular in India with Western Countries Falling Behind

According to a Finder study on blockchain gaming statistics, India is front-running the world in non-fungible token (NFT) gaming, while developing countries like the US and France are behind in terms of the numbers of play-to-earn (P2E) players when compared to the rest of the world.

Second to India, Hong Kong is the next highest country with 29%, while the United Arab Emirates takes third spot with 27% adoption.

With the popularity of P2E games growing, data from Finder indicates a discrepancy in interest between respondents from Western countries and the rest of the world. For example, in the United States, where nearly 14% of the respondents said they know what P2E is, only 9.4% played at least one game. In Sweden, the figure is lower and just 4.3% of respondents confirmed to having played.

Nevertheless, in the study wherein Finder zoomed in on the NFT gaming habits of internet users in 26 countries, the research firm expects growth in the number of US residents that will play P2E games in the future. The report said:

“That figure is expected to increase 1.8 times by the end of 2022, with the percentage of people in the US expected to hit 16.5%.”

In France, with only 6% P2E adoption, the number is likely to turn to 15%. Other nations to move up are Peru (going from 13% to 29%) and Spain (8% to 17%).

In Africa, only Nigeria and South Africa were included in the survey. In Nigeria, 16% of the respondents said they played a P2E game with another 16.9% planning to do so in the future. Among the South African respondents, 10.2% said they played an NFT game and 10.6% is considering to do so.
