Rawlings Sporting Goods, the official baseball, helmets, face shields and gloves provider for Major League Baseball®, today announced its first entry into the world of Web3. This new digital venture is the first of its kind for the long-established baseball and softball brand, which focuses on its most well-known product category, baseball gloves.
This summer, Rawlings will produce 461 Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) for physical assets spread across four rarity tiers, with each NFT attached to a physical baseball glove. Designed and manufactured exclusively for the “PRIMUS NFT” project, these limited edition ultra-rare Rawlings gloves will never be duplicated. Purchasing one of these NFTs allows buyers to exchange their NFTs for their physical gloves, plus access to exclusive future offers from Rawlings. As part of the PRIMUS NFT project, Rawlings has also launched a Rawlings Discord server for engaging with brands, sharing more information about releases, and giving fans early access to PRIMUS NFT releases.
The rarest one is a single-edition NFT designed by New York Mets™ shortstop Francisco Lindor, which will be worn during the July 27 game against the New York Yankees. The glove and corresponding NFT will be auctioned off, and the proceeds will go to charity.
The Rawlings PRIMUS NFT series will be available later this summer in partnership with Dream Syndicate, an agency focused on developing immersive and rich experiences for clients across different industries around the world.
