SBK debuts #GetGaryAJob social media campaign

SBK, the sportsbook app of Smarkets, has launched a spoof marketing campaign to help former England and Manchester United footballer Gary Pallister find new employment.

This summer, SBK launched its nationwide advertising campaign, taking a swipe at British betting’s current field of operators and their stale market and product offerings.

Following the success of its summer campaign, SBK is resolute in finding Pallister a new job, as thanks for his fleeting appearance in ‘The ad we weren’t allowed to make, but we made it anyway’.

Using the hashtag #GetGaryAJob, the former centre-back will feature in an SBK video series after his initial rejection in the sportsbook’s recent advert.

SBK CEO and Founder Jason Trost, who also starred in the summer campaign, said: “Anyone who has seen our recent ad will know we’re not interested in working with ex-footballers, but Gary wouldn’t let it go. I’m willing to give him a chance to prove his worth to us – at the very least I can say I admire his tenacity!”

The spoof campaign has been developed by former Paddy Power CMO Ken Robertson and The Tenth Man agency, which led the development of SBK’s summer campaign.

Pallister added: “I can’t wait to get stuck in and show Jason and the team what I can do. They seem to be underestimating my talents, but I’ll show them what I have to offer SBK.”
