Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Netherlands gambling authority has notified that unlicensed operators LCS and MKC Limited has discontinued their online gambling services targeting Dutch consumers.
The operators who had been served cease and desist orders will no longer face fines summoned by KSA totalling €250,000.
The unlicensed duo have faced ‘corrective sanctions’ since early September by KSA that found it was possible to create a player account from the Netherlands and gamble on their network of websites.
“That’s prohibited. Games of chance providers that do not have a licence must ensure that their offer is not accessible from the Netherlands,” the regulator said in a media statement.
On September 5, 2022, the Ksa imposed a cease and desist order on LCS for illegally offering online games of chance to consumers in the country through “at least one website,” with the group’s Sons of Slots igaming entity cited.
LCS brands include SvenPlay, Lapilanders, Wallacebet and Nucelonbet Casino, as KSA summoned a penalty notice of €55,000 per week, up to a maximum of €165,000, should corrective action not be taken.
Two days later, the KSA continued its fight against the illegal provision of online games of chance to players within the country after imposing a similar order on MKC.
If the firm chose not to adhere, the Dutch regulator noted that it would have to pay a penalty of €28,000 per week or part of the week that could amount to a maximum of almost €84,000.
MKC is Malta Gaming Authority licensed firm, that lists Birkirkara address, which holds a B2C gaming service certification that indexes the Betworld247 igaming and online sports betting entity as an approved URL.
With it noted each financial penalty “had to be paid if the offer was not discontinued,” the Ksa added that it will “ continue to monitor whether the situation remains the same”.
